The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life in the Duluth Superior region through the establishment and administration of endowed funds created by individuals, families, private foundations, and businesses. Since 1983, it has distributed over $40 million in grants and scholarships, managing more than 360 funds for various charitable purposes.
The grant program focuses on supporting a wide range of initiatives that serve to improve the community within specified focus areas including arts, environment, community enhancement, services for youth and families, civic engagement projects, human rights advocacy, and adult education. It privileges projects that proactively foster connections within the community, address root causes of community challenges, fund research on civic and public policy matters, enhance the operational and programmatic capacity of organizations, manage to produce important outcomes with reasonably scaled grant funding, and assist in launching new initiatives needing initial support.
