The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation aims to enhance the quality of life in the Duluth Superior region through the establishment and administration of endowed funds created by individuals, families, private foundations, and businesses. Since 1983, it has distributed over $40 million in grants and scholarships, managing more than 360 funds for various charitable purposes.
The grant program focuses on ensuring the recognition and responsibility of citizens in maintaining natural resources. This involves assessing the needs to enhance environmental education collaboration, developing community-wide education projects to underline the ecological and economic value of conservation, and supporting projects that boost public environmental awareness. It also aims at developing livable community models through land use planning, natural heritage preservation, waste minimization, and green business innovation. Furthermore, the grant supports creating unique collaborations for consensus building and shared vision among diverse stakeholders, fostering new leadership, and proactively managing community issues to strengthen livable communities.
