The mission of the Foundation, founded in 1996, is to serve the charitable needs of the communities of Lucan, Seaforth, Vesta, Wabasso, and Wanda. It focuses on supporting projects and programs that enhance community development, quality education, cultural enrichment, wellness, recreation, social services, environmental projects, and civic opportunities within these areas.
The Community Development Grant program awards major grants to projects that serve the residents of the Five Star communities and the surrounding area. This program focuses on funding community development projects and programs that are responsive to changing community needs. Each spring, a grant application period is designated and publicized, with grants awarded following this process. The program allows for multiple-year grants, with funds provided annually. Funding for subsequent years is contingent upon compliance with stipulations set forth by the Foundation. The Foundation's Advisory Committee approves additional criteria and rules for the grant program as needed.
