The Florida Department of Environmental Protection protects, conserves and manages the state’s natural resources and enforces its environmental laws.
The grant program under the Nonpoint Source Management Program encompasses the Federal Clean Water Act Section 319(h) Grants, known as "319 Grants", and the State Water-quality Assistance Grants, known as "SWAG". The overarching goal of these grants is to reduce nonpoint source pollution stemming from diverse land use activities. The program offers flexible submission timelines, with review and evaluation periods occurring semi-annually or as necessary. If a project is not funded in one cycle, it automatically rolls over to the next without the need for resubmission, unless updates are required. The total annual funding for these grants depends on federal and state appropriations, amounting to approximately $8 million.
