Florida Humanities focuses on enriching the cultural and intellectual life of Florida's citizens by fostering a deeper understanding of the humanities. Through a variety of accessible programs and grants, they aim to enhance the appreciation of literature, history, culture, and art among the diverse communities within the state.
The Museum on Main Street (MoMS) grant program aims to enrich small towns across Florida through the delivery of traveling exhibitions and public programs. This initiative, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and Florida Humanities, targets small museums, libraries, historical societies, and other cultural organizations. The program focuses on bringing the “Voices and Votes: Democracy in America” exhibition to various communities, encouraging local history, education, and community redevelopment. Participating sites are supported in designing and implementing free, public programs that augment the themes of the exhibition, fostering broad public engagement before, during, and after the display period.
