The Florida Literacy Coalition (FLC) promotes, supports, and advocates for the effective delivery of quality adult and family literacy services in the state of Florida. It aims to assist adult education, literacy, and family literacy providers throughout Florida, with a special focus on aiding community-based literacy organizations in training and program development.
The Florida Family Literacy Grant Initiative aims to support Florida schools and educational programs in establishing or expanding family literacy programs. These programs are designed to engage parents and their children in learning together, with a focus on breaking the intergenerational cycle of illiteracy and limited education. The grant supports programs that include adult basic education/literacy or ESL skills training for parents or caregivers, age-appropriate educational activities for children, and interactive literacy activities between parents and children, known as Parent and Child Together (PACT) time.
