The Florida Literacy Coalition (FLC) promotes, supports, and advocates for the effective delivery of quality adult and family literacy services in the state of Florida. It aims to assist adult education, literacy, and family literacy providers throughout Florida, with a special focus on aiding community-based literacy organizations in training and program development.
The Florida Financial Literacy Initiative supports the integration of literacy instruction and financial education, promoting a contextualized approach to learning. Funded by Wells Fargo and managed by the Florida Literacy Coalition, the initiative provides teacher/tutor training, instructional resources, and grants to adult literacy programs across Florida. The goal is to help learners gain the knowledge needed to make informed financial choices. Family literacy programs eligible for funding should include parent literacy instruction, interactive literacy activities between parents and children, training for parents on being the primary educators for their children, and age-appropriate education for children. Eight grants of up to $5,000 may be awarded.
