The Foundation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry is focused on supporting initiatives that provide a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered Dental Home for children whose families cannot afford dental care. This encompasses all aspects of oral health care in an ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient.
The AAPD Foundation's Access to Care Grants aim to support community-based initiatives in the U.S. that provide dental care to underserved and limited access children up to age 18, helping establish a Dental Home for these children. These one-year grants, offering up to $20,000, are intended for projects that make dental care accessible to children whose families are financially challenged. Allowable uses for these funds include costs related to child oral health care, clinic supplies, personnel salaries, education, and outreach efforts to increase dentist participation in the program, as well as addressing special health care needs. Each funded item must directly impact pediatric oral health care and contribute to establishing a Dental Home.
