The Gen Foundation aims to promote the importance of cross-cultural understanding between Japan and the rest of the world in today's global society. It is dedicated to supporting individuals who exhibit excellence in the natural sciences, especially in food sciences/technology.
The grant program by the Gen Foundation focuses on advancing studies and research in the natural sciences, with a particular emphasis on food sciences and technology. It supports scholars and researchers in these fields by providing one-off, non-renewable awards. Since its establishment in 1998, the Foundation has supported over 100 individuals in their studies or research endeavors. Candidates awarded by the Foundation are required to submit a report to the Trustees upon completing their studies. The Foundation upholds a strong diversity policy, offering equal opportunities to all candidates without discrimination based on color, race, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex, marital status or gender reassignment, sexual orientation, disability, or age.
