    Overview

The grant program sanctioned by the Governor’s Office allocates $125 million through 2026 to assist Local Education Authorities (LEAs) in partnering with medical sponsors to plan and establish over 100 new school-based health centers (SBHCs) in Georgia. These centers aim to facilitate access to comprehensive healthcare for children and adolescents directly within their educational environment, tackling common barriers such as transportation and cost. Support includes a one-year planning phase with potential funding of up to $10,000, followed by two additional years of startup assistance encompassing space renovations and operational costs, totaling up to $1 million per school to successfully launch SBHC services focusing on medical, behavioral, dental, and vision health needs.
