The mission is to improve the quality of care and build capacity to address the needs of breast cancer patients in Sub-Saharan Africa through collaborative grant funding opportunities. This focuses on innovative projects aimed at enhancing patient care quality in the specified region.
The grant program spearheaded by Conquer Cancer®, the ASCO Foundation, and Pfizer Global Medical Grants aims to support Quality Improvement projects to elevate the standard of breast cancer patient care in Sub-Saharan Africa. With a total funding pool of up to $1,000,000, the initiative seeks to fund innovative endeavors with a maximum budget of $80,000 each over 24 months. It targets addressing significant challenges faced by breast cancer patients in Sub-Saharan Africa, including shortages of specialized healthcare professionals, inadequate training, and limited access to advanced treatments. The goals encompass understanding and filling gaps in clinical practice, enhancing patient experience, improving detection, diagnosis, and screening, expanding literature and guidelines specific to the locale, streamlining care coordination across the healthcare system, and amplifying access to supportive and palliative care. Proposals are encouraged in various domains such as enhancing care access, leveraging technology for better care delivery and communication, culturally sensitive education, treatment optimization, and the development of multidisciplinary support teams, among others.
