The Government of Canada aims to serve Canadian people and promote Canadian interests. They oversee various economic and social affairs, including jobs and business, health, taxes, national defense, culture, justice, transportation, and more.
The EcoAction Community Funding Program's broad goals are to support projects that lead to tangible environmental results, engage communities in improving their environment, increase environmental awareness, boost community capacity, and result in sustainable outcomes and engagement post-project completion. This year, the program specifically supports new projects that engage Canadian communities and demonstrate measurable, positive impacts on fresh water. Projects must aim to improve freshwater quality by reducing harmful substances and/or restoring and protecting freshwater ecosystem health. The maximum funding available per project is $100,000 with a minimum funding request of $25,000 for up to 36 months. Projects are required to secure a minimum of 50% of total project value from non-Government of Canada sources, with EcoAction funding up to half of a project's expenses.
