The mission of the Hayswood Foundation is to help groups and individuals obtain the tools needed to improve the lives of citizens in the community. This is achieved by offering grants to local nonprofit organizations for programs and services in mental and physical health, and education, as well as administering scholarship programs for local students to achieve higher education and become productive community members.
The Hayswood Foundation Grant program, established in 1985, targets non-profit organizations located or operating within the northeastern Kentucky counties of Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Mason, Robertson, and the southeastern Ohio counties of Adams and Brown. The grant focuses on projects that promote mental or physical health, or education. It has awarded approximately $7.75 million to various projects, both large and small. Annually, the total amount of grant funds available is determined by the Foundation's Finance Committee, sharing an aim to not exceed 10% of the total grant funds to any single organization unless it's for major capital projects, with all grants being awarded for 1-year terms which may include matching provisions.
