The Henry P. Kendall Foundation aims to catalyze greater production and consumption of sustainably grown and harvested food in New England. It views a strong regional food system as vital for enhancing health, economy, and environment. The Foundation highlights the role of educational institutions as key community resources and economic forces that can strengthen local supply chains and foster a more engaged and aware participation in the region's food ecosystem.
Launched in 2018, the New England Food Vision Prize supports projects that build resilience, relationships, and capacity within New England’s educational institution food supply chain, with the goal of increasing preparation, sourcing, serving, or consumption of local and regional food at K‑12 schools and higher education campuses. Since its inception, 48 teams across the region have partnered with over 1,000 schools, positively impacting over 400,000 students. The Prize seeks innovative collaborations—particularly those involving educational institutions—that advance regional sourcing of food in New England schools and colleges.
