The mission of the Hereditary Disease Foundation is to fund the most promising, innovative, and paradigm-changing research aimed at curing Huntington’s disease. This genetic brain disorder causes irreversible declines in mood, memory, and movement control, with no current cure or treatment available. By focusing on this single-gene disorder, the foundation hopes to unlock potential cures for other brain disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and Lou Gehrig’s (ALS) diseases.
The foundation offers Postdoctoral Researcher Fellowships to spark interest in Huntington’s disease research among early career scientists, specifically targeting postdoctoral fellows or individuals up to 7 years post-PhD completion. These fellowships provide significant financial support, totaling up to $100,000 per year for a maximum of two years. The aim is to support groundbreaking research that could lead to advances in the understanding and treatment of Huntington’s disease and, by extension, other related brain disorders.
