    Overview

The HFF's Small Grant Awards, distributed biannually and reaching up to £10,000 each, are designed to support the development of maritime archaeology primarily within the eastern Mediterranean, focusing on areas like Cyprus, Lebanon, and Syria. The foundation prioritizes projects that foster strong regional collaborations, offer local training opportunities, and contribute to capacity building. Supported activities include training, workshops, publications, conferences with regional participation, conservation efforts, museum exhibitions, and public engagement and education. Furthermore, the Foundation seeks to expand the discipline of maritime archaeology globally, encouraging the development of new technologies and methodologies, and in special cases, supporting research that aligns with Honor Frost’s interests outside the immediate regional focus. Funding is competitive, aiming for applications of the highest standard, with a possibility of repeat funding for up to three years under exceptional circumstances.
