We have a vision of a Thriving, Just, Healthy, and Equitable Region. This vision is implemented through four decade-long goals of increasing Racial Equity, Thriving Youth and Families, Healthy Ecosystems and Environments, and a Just Economy.
This grant aims to fund research into areas of photographic history that have been overlooked, specifically focusing on women photographers around the world and Western American photographers up to the Great Depression. It is open to both individual researchers and nonprofit institutions. The grant supports research projects that can result in various forms of scholarly work, with the stipulation that completed projects be contributed to the Humboldt Area Foundation for inclusion in the Peter Palmquist Archive at Yale University's Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library. Proposals are evaluated based on quality, feasibility within budget and timeline, and the potential impact on photographic history.
