    Overview

The Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases (CDMD) Pilot and Feasibility (P&F) grant program aims to foster the development of new diabetes-related investigators and support innovative, high-risk projects. It features three grant mechanisms:

    1. Parent P&F Grants focus on basic biomedical, clinical, and/or translational research questions regarding cellular and molecular metabolism related to diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, clinical and outcomes research in diabetes and obesity, complications of these conditions, islet function and survival, and the nutrition and physiology of diabetes and obesity.

    2. Alzheimer’s-Focused P&F Grants target research on the diabetes and metabolic disease aspects of Alzheimer's disease and its related dementias.

    3. Physician-Scientist P&F Grants aim to support emerging physician-scientists with patient-oriented clinical research projects related to diabetes and/or obesity, who are early in their careers and show promise as future independent investigators.

Additionally, the grant program is open to established investigators new to diabetes research who wish to apply their expertise to this field. Awards are up to $50,000 for one year, covering expenses like travel necessary for the project, graduate student stipends, and publication fees.
