The IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Office of Community Outreach and Engagement focuses on reducing the cancer burden in Indiana through community engagement, research, and education. They aim to facilitate and support collaborative efforts that translate into evidence-based practices and interventions in communities, particularly for underserved populations, to decrease cancer incidence and improve cancer care outcomes across the state.

    Type of Support

    Overview

The IUSCCC Community-Academic Collaborative Program Award is designed to support collaborative proposals for implementing evidence-based cancer-related programs within Indiana communities. These efforts should focus on significant cancer burdens within the state, including lung, breast, colon, pancreas, prostate, and cervical cancers. Proposals must incorporate an evaluation component and give priority to projects that address risk behaviors associated with high cancer incidence and morbidity rates. Special consideration is given to community-led initiatives that aim to expand outreach or deepen understanding of underserved populations. Projects must be jointly led by an IUSCCC faculty member and a community advocate or partner. The grant supports projects for one year with a budget cap of $15,000.
