Seeding The Future's mission is to seed and support impactful initiatives and organizations aiming to transform food systems into ones that are more nutritious, regenerative, and equitable for everyone. Their vision is a global food system that offers equitable access to safe, nutritious, trusted, affordable, and appealing food for all, enhancing personal and planetary health by being sustainable, resilient, and regenerative. They aspire to positively impact the lives of one billion people.
The Annual Seeding The Future Global Food System Challenge, organized by the Institute of Food Technologists and funded by the Seeding The Future Foundation, seeks to fund innovations at the intersection of being nutritious, sustainably produced, and accessible, appealing, affordable, and trusted by consumers. This Challenge focuses on projects that have demonstrated initial feasibility through experiments, prototypes, or a proof of concept. The primary goal is to inspire and support innovative, diverse, and multidisciplinary teams aiming for transformative changes in the food system that ensure global access to affordable, safe, and nutritious food, thus fostering a healthy diet without compromising the planet's health. The Challenge offers three levels of Growth Grants to support transformative food system innovations at different development stages, emphasizing innovations that show economic feasibility at scale, high-impact potential, and benefit at least two, ideally three, of the specified domains without negatively impacting the others.
