The International Trans Fund (ITF) mobilizes sustainable resources for strong, trans-led movements and collective action globally, addressing and eliminating funding gaps impacting trans groups. It aims to enhance the capacity of the trans movement to self-organize and advocate for trans people’s rights, self-determination, and wellbeing.
The grant program by ITF aims to support and sustain trans-led groups of various sizes working on a wide range of issues at multiple levels, prioritizing groups with fewer resources. It strives to increase resources and access to both financial and non-financial resources for trans movements, including grantmaking, skill building, organizational strengthening, leadership development, and activist support. Additionally, it educates peers in the philanthropic community on trans issues to influence funders and allies in trans-related commitments and strategies. ITF prioritizes funding for diverse groups confronting greater marginalization, promoting intersectional work contributing to social and economic justice, trans movement building, and the liberation of trans people. It supports a wide array of movement-building activities, including but not limited to awareness events, educational seminars, direct action, advocacy, art and activism collaborations, and leadership development, using creative and innovative approaches. ITF offers two types of grants: SEED Grants ($10,000 to $25,000) for trans-led organizations new to ITF funding or preferring this option over THRIVE Grants, and THRIVE Grants ($25,000 to $50,000) for general support to organizations previously funded by ITF and in good standing.
