JRCT is a responsive grant-making trust focused on creating a peaceful, just, and sustainable world. They support efforts that address violence and injustice at their roots, fund initiatives unlikely to be supported from other sources, aim for long-term strategic impact, and tackle injustices at the intersections of gender, ethnicity, and class. They particularly encourage work that responds to the crises of COVID-19 and systemic racism.
The "Power and Accountability" grant program focuses on promoting equality and challenging hierarchical structures, reflecting Quakers' commitment. It aims to support efforts that ensure power is more equally shared and powerful institutions are accountable and aligned with the public interest. Priority areas include strengthening corporate accountability by promoting transparency and responsiveness, enhancing democratic accountability to ensure governance reflects and engages the public effectively, encouraging responsible media that holds powerful entities accountable while combating misinformation, and responding to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and systemic racism. The grant supports work that scrutinizes government and corporate responses to Covid-19 and systemic racism, aiming for transformative social change toward justice, peace, and sustainability. This program accepts applications for work in the UK or at a pan-European level.
