As the state’s lead economic development agency, the Kansas Department of Commerce strives to empower individuals, businesses and communities to achieve prosperity in Kansas.
This grant focuses on increasing access to essential goods and services by funding the removal of architectural barriers in downtown, main street districts, and other non-residential buildings. It specifically aims to enhance accessibility and mobility for elderly or severely disabled adults. Funded by the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the ADA Improvement Program allocates $500,000 in 2024 to assist public and private building projects. Individual projects can receive up to $50,000, while city-wide initiatives may be granted up to $200,000. Additionally, administrative costs are capped at $10,000 for single buildings and $20,000 for city-wide projects.
