The Josephine Rudy Smith Scholarship is designed to assist ministerial students with their seminary expenses, in honor of Josephine Rudy Smith, a member of First United Methodist Church in Henderson, Kentucky. Initiated with a donation by Mrs. Smith's son in 1948 and supported by matching funds from the First United Methodist Church and the former Louisville Annual Conference, this scholarship aims to support United Methodist clergy in their educational journeys. Over the years, it has provided more than $235,000 in financial support, aiding over two hundred clergy who have contributed over a thousand years of pastoral leadership to the church.
