The mission of the Josephine Rudy Smith Fund is to support ministerial students by providing financial assistance for their seminary expenses, in memory of Josephine Rudy Smith. The fund aims to sustain this support through ongoing donations and is administered by a committee associated with First United Methodist Church of Henderson, Kentucky.
The MEF offers financial grants to support certified candidates in seminary and local pastors within the United Methodist Church, aiming to bolster their educational pursuits and ministry vocation. For seminary students, the funding is determined per credit hour, allocating $325.00 for each. Local pastors attending the Course of Study program receive $250.00 per course, assisting them in meeting educational requirements and progressing towards provisional membership. The fund also supports master’s level education, United Methodist studies, License for Ministry School tuition, and subsidizes Continuing Education events in Kentucky to provide low-cost, high-quality opportunities.
