Overview

The Al-Sumait Prize annually recognizes individuals or institutions that have made considerable progress in advancing food security, health, and education in Africa. It is aimed at those whose studies, scientific projects, applied research, or innovative initiatives have had a meaningful and enduring impact on economic and social development in Africa. Specifically, in the health sector, the prize targets advancements in combating diseases, improving healthcare staffing and capacity, upgrading medical facilities, and developing effective health policies. Nominations are open to those who have produced innovative work with substantial impact on the continent, provided that the research is recognized globally and has been applied within the last ten years in African countries. All nominations must be submitted in English, with adequate supporting evidence of the work's importance in driving significant developments in its field.
