    Type of Support

    Overview

The Nature-Based Climate Action Program aims to demonstrate and promote tree planting, prairie restoration, and other nature-based solutions to mitigate climate change in rural areas. It focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and increasing carbon sequestration through the preservation or restoration of key ecosystems such as forests, prairies, and wetlands. The program supports projects that achieve measurable environmental impacts in carbon drawdown and habitat restoration. It encourages community engagement, broadens understanding and promotes policy change regarding climate change and habitat loss, and contributes to climate science for effective land use in the future. Priority is given to projects that model actionable solutions for other organizations and communities, including land preservation for biodiversity, carbon farming demonstrations, community activation for climate awareness, tree planting in small cities and towns, and demonstrations of regenerative agriculture to advance policy or create a viable carbon market.
