The Lupus Research Alliance aims to eliminate lupus through scientific research. The organization’s mission involves transforming the lives of those affected by lupus by venturing into a new era of scientific innovations, advancing knowledge, engaging new scientific talents, and leading efforts towards developing new treatments, prevention methods, and ultimately a cure.
The Lupus Insight Prize, issued by the Lupus Research Alliance, seeks nominations to honor significant scientific achievements in understanding lupus's causes, pathogenesis, or treatment. It rewards recent (within the last five years), specific, significant discoveries with $100,000, aiming to spur further high-impact research that could shift current paradigms in lupus treatment or understanding. The prize money is expected to support research into lupus's genetic, environmental, molecular, immunologic, or cellular aspects or its treatment, excluding any use for institutional overhead or indirect costs. A portion of the funds may cover the recipient's salary and equipment. The goal is also to raise public awareness of lupus and underscore the LRA's commitment to overcoming the disease through research support.
