The mission of the LDA involves increasing awareness and education about Lyme disease throughout the country. They focus on working with and assisting other Lyme organizations to spread knowledge and support research and education on Lyme disease and its related challenges.
The Educational Grant program by the LDA is aimed at enhancing Lyme disease awareness and education nationally. It supports a variety of initiatives including the production and distribution of educational materials like Lyme disease brochures, textbooks, and school curriculums; the development and maintenance of Lyme disease-focused websites; provision of materials to school nurses; organization of educational projects in schools; support for medical conferences and symposia, including those offering Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits; and sponsoring physicians to attend CME conferences. Since 1999, the LDA has awarded numerous educational grants and conference scholarships to promote comprehensive education on Lyme disease across various platforms and audiences.
