Founded in 1994 by local citizens, the Mackinac Island Community Foundation (MICF) is dedicated to promoting the general well-being of Island residents and visitors. It does this by working in community partnerships to generate endowed and unendowed funds and stimulate community-wide initiatives.
The grant program by MICF supports a wide range of organizations aiming to promote the overall well-being of Island residents and visitors. The grants focus on various areas including Arts & Culture, Community Enrichment, Education, Environmental Conservation, Health Care, Historic Preservation, Horse Tradition, Housing, and Youth Programs. Priority is given to projects that enable organizations to better fulfill their community roles, enhance cooperation among organizations, create programs for emerging needs, build new approaches to meet existing needs, and benefit a large percentage of the population.
