Reproductive Scientist Development Program

From March Of Dimes Inc

Our mission is to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies. We aim to end preventable maternal health risks and deaths, end preventable preterm birth and infant death, and close the health equity gap.

Type of Support

Overview

The Reproductive Scientist Development Program (RSDP) is designed for early-career scholars committed to a career in OB/GYN and medical research. The program aims to serve as a foundational stepping stone for scholars, enhancing their abilities in scientific inquiry within the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Unlike traditional research grants that may require novel or breakthrough scientific work, the RSDP places importance on the training and development of the recipient. It encourages translational research related to maternal fetal health, with a particular focus on prematurity, maternal and infant morbidity and mortality, and health equity. Although the outcome of the research work is considered less significant than the recipient's training and development, the program nonetheless aims to ignite a lifelong passion and commitment to maternal fetal health research. Managed by a host institution and funded by a coalition, including the March of Dimes, the program supports about a dozen grant recipients annually, with each coalition organization now funding a specific recipient.
