    Overview

The MSAC awards grants to not-for-profit, tax-exempt organizations for ongoing arts programming and projects, as well as to individual artists. It prioritizes grants and provides technical and advisory assistance. Its strategic plan aims to increase participation, provide intentional support, build organizational capacity, leverage connections, and bolster the arts in Maryland. The Heritage Awards, part of MSAC’s initiatives, recognize long-term achievements in folklife and living cultural traditions across three categories: Person/People, Place, and Tradition, highlighting contributions in areas such as artistry, community leadership, and traditional practices.
