Develop new medical strategies for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of human diseases, injuries, and conditions through human stem cells.
The Maryland Stem Cell Research Fund (MSCRF) Commercialization Program seeks to support the development and commercialization of stem cell research technologies with significant commercial potential. This program prioritizes translational activities that advance stem cell-based therapies, diagnostics, or tools to clinical stages or to market. It encourages Maryland-based companies to commercialize technologies, and fosters collaborations between private and public sectors. Specifically, it aims to enhance partnerships between research institutions and businesses within Maryland, offering additional "Second-tier Funding" for collaborative projects with a Maryland research institution. Commercialization awards can go up to $400,000, but with a qualifying collaboration, applicants may request an extra $100,000 for a total of $500,000. Projects, including subcontracts, must be completed within 12 months of receiving the award.
