The Voelcker Fund is dedicated to supporting medical research with an emphasis on diseases such as heart disease, cancer, arthritis, muscular dystrophy, and inherited vision degeneration disorders of the retina through grants to designated 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.
The Voelcker Fund Young Investigator Award program is designed to support young researchers working in the areas of cancer, arthritis, heart disease, muscular dystrophy, retinitis, and macular degeneration. The grant provides up to $450,000 over three years to help investigators innovate and develop data that could lead to follow-up funding from other sources. Each year, up to three awards are made, totaling $1,350,000, to assistant professors or equivalent positions from San Antonio institutions conducting relevant research.
