The mission of Mid Atlantic Arts is to promote and support multi-disciplinary arts in the Mid-Atlantic region. They aim to increase access to and appreciation for the arts through support of programs that nurture and affirm the cultural identity of the diverse people, places, and traditions of the region. While this is a generalized mission statement, Mid Atlantic Arts focuses on fostering the arts and culture ecosystem by enabling artists and organizations to explore new innovations, engage communities, and enhance their contributions to the regional and national cultural landscapes.
The Iber Exchange program, a collaboration between Mid Atlantic Arts and Ibermúsicas, offers fee support grants to nonprofit presenters in designated U.S. states and territories for contracting artists part of the Iber Exchange program. This initiative is tailored to facilitate international cultural exchange, emphasizing the importance of such engagements in communities with limited arts exposure. Funded activities must include both a public performance and a community engagement component, encouraging interaction between audiences and visiting artists. The overarching goal is to create a cost-effective approach for international touring that enriches cultural understanding through the performing arts, supported by the National Endowment for the Arts’ Regional Touring Program. Eligibility extends to artists from Ibermúsicas’ member countries who meet specific criteria, facilitating a curated selection of artists for regional touring and community engagement.
