The mission of the Minnesota Department of Human Services is to improve public health and promote the well-being of all Minnesotans by implementing comprehensive and responsive service programs aimed at vulnerable and underserved populations, including initiatives designed to target health disparities and improve the quality of life.
The grant focuses on supporting youth and young adults, particularly those who are justice-involved or at risk for justice involvement, through a curriculum aimed at preparing them for parenthood. The "Paths to Parenthood" curriculum developed by DHS-CSD is meant to educate potential and existing young parents about the emotional, legal, and financial realities of parenting. This initiative aims to form a second cohort of community-based organizations to pilot the curriculum, expanding the program's reach and impact.
