Building upon the legacy of Mother Cabrini and the Catholic tradition, the Foundation is focused on healing the sick and caring for the poor. It supports programs meeting the unmet healthcare and healthcare-related needs of individuals, families, and communities throughout New York State.
The Healthcare Workforce Grant Program by the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation seeks to improve the health of vulnerable New Yorkers by developing a skilled and diverse healthcare workforce. Acknowledging the exacerbated healthcare workforce shortages and health inequities revealed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the program supports the creation and implementation of innovative healthcare workforce initiatives. These initiatives aim to improve access to care, health equity, the quality of care, and cultural and linguistic competency within the healthcare system. The foundation encourages efforts from various stakeholders, including healthcare organizations, educational institutions, professional associations, and community-based organizations, to address challenges in workforce development. Key focus areas include pipeline and recruitment of qualified healthcare workers, enhancing the quality of and access to education and training, and financial support for programs with a minimum grant consideration of $75,000.
