The Music Library Association is dedicated to serving as the professional association for music libraries and librarianship in the United States. Since its founding in 1931, it boasts an international membership of librarians, musicians, scholars, educators, and members of the book and music trades. It focuses on national and international activities while also working at the local level through eleven regional chapters.
The Carol June Bradley Award for Historical Research in Music Librarianship, established by the Music Library Association in 2003, aims to support research into the history of music libraries and music librarianship. Named in honor of Carol June Bradley after her significant contributions to music librarianship and historical research in the field, the award continues to fund research projects in this area with an annual grant of up to $500.
