The Mutual of America Foundation aims to have a direct, positive impact on society by recognizing and fostering outstanding nonprofit partnerships that demonstrate exemplary leadership in building cohesive communities through equal collaboration among public, private, or social sectors.
The Community Partnership Award celebrates nonprofit organizations in the United States for their superior ability in facilitating partnerships across public, private, or social sectors, working as equals, not in a donor-recipient dynamic, to encourage community cohesion. It highlights the importance of collaboration for the common good, emphasizing partnerships that can be models for cooperation, have the potential for replication, and introduce innovative approaches to solving significant social challenges. Annually, six organizations are honored, with awards including the Thomas J. Moran Award ($100,000 and a documentary video), the Frances R. Hesselbein Award ($75,000 for partnerships addressing social challenges in multiple communities), and four Honorable Mentions ($50,000 each).
