Provide independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation and conduct other activities to solve complex problems and inform public policy decisions
The grant program aims to support academic-community partnerships employing community-based participatory research (CBPR) to investigate the roles and impacts of climate-specific, environmental, and social determinants of health data on health equity. This research will explore how such data can inform health agendas, policies, programs, services, and resource allocation to address health equity issues in at-risk communities, especially those disproportionately affected by climate change. The program specifically solicits proposals from accredited Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) in the five U.S. Gulf of Mexico states—Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas—giving preference to MSIs collaborating with at-risk, coastal communities along the Gulf of Mexico. It also highlights interest in partnerships with environmental justice communities to address environmental health disparities exacerbated by climate change.
