NASA explores the unknown in air and space, innovates for the benefit of humanity, and inspires the world through discovery.
The grant program focuses on innovative solutions that utilize Earth observations to aid aspects of wildland fire management and related decision-making processes in a sustainable manner. Proposals are encouraged to address any phase of the fire life cycle—pre-fire, active, or post-fire—or span multiple phases, with a strong emphasis on enhancing ecosystem and community resilience to fires and promoting the use of beneficial fire. While not primarily focused on disaster management and fire suppression, compelling proposals in these areas may also be considered. The program aims to support a broad range of fire-related challenges and partners with various entities to frame projects around specific problems and challenges within the domain of wildland fire management.
