The National Ataxia Foundation aims to support cutting-edge Ataxia research to find a cure and improve the quality of life for those affected by hereditary and sporadic forms of Ataxia.
The National Ataxia Foundation (NAF) is dedicated to funding exceptional science in both hereditary and sporadic Ataxia research, encompassing both basic and translational studies. They welcome applications from around the globe, catering to both non-profit and for-profit institutions, and do not restrict eligibility based on citizenship. Their research grants serve as initial funding to foster novel investigations into the causes, development, or treatment of Ataxia, with the intent that these early-stage projects will evolve to secure further funding from alternative sources. Grants are awarded for a one-year term, focusing on projects that demonstrate potential to address pressing needs within the Ataxia community. Priority may be given to certain research areas in the Seed Money Research Grant program, with standard funding capped at $50,000. Exceptionally, projects of significant promise may qualify for additional funds, subject to rigorous evaluation and pre-approval processes.
