The NATA Foundation, as the philanthropic arm of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, aims to advance the athletic training profession through research and education. It is committed to benefiting athletic trainers and associated companies, as well as the physically active community, by fostering collaboration among health care professionals for preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation.
The NATA Foundation offers financial support through its Research Grant Programs, aiming to foster growth in the athletic training profession. This includes the Doctoral Student Grants Program which supports outstanding research projects. The grants are awarded as a flat amount (up to $2,500 for doctoral students), covering directly associated costs without allowing for indirect costs, distributed over no more than a year with a possibility for a two-year funding period for project activities except for dissemination of results. The Foundation particularly encourages research that propels the profession forward, with specific provisions for travel to the NATA annual meeting for the presentation of results.
