The Trustees of the NCTE Research Foundation support projects that enhance the teaching and learning of language, literacy, and culture. They aim to fund research reflecting the diverse interests of the NCTE membership, including efforts to understand and improve various pedagogical, policy, and community aspects of literacy education.
The IWCA Research Grant is designed to strengthen the writing center community by encouraging scholarly research that applies or advances existing theories and methods or generates new knowledge within the field of writing center studies. This grant supports a range of research projects including quantitative, qualitative, theoretical, and applied studies related to writing center activities and applications. While not primarily aimed at funding travel, the grant does consider supporting research-related travel as part of larger research endeavors. It does not, however, fund conference travel exclusively. Applicants may apply for funding up to $1,000.
