The mission of Humanities Nebraska is to help Nebraskans explore what connects us and makes us human, aiming for a society where Nebraskans possess the knowledge, understanding, and empathy to cultivate a more informed, thoughtful, and just society. They value culture, connection, respectful conversations, inclusivity, exposure to diverse expressions of human existence, celebration of shared histories and diverse cultures, engagement, responsiveness to community needs, and fostering purposeful lives.
NHC Mini Grants (Humanities Nebraska) aim to support public humanities programming by nonprofits or government entities, funding smaller projects that bring people together around ideas, history, culture, and shared human experiences. The grants are intended to help Nebraska‐based programs that are accessible to the public, encourage discussion or learning, and include humanities experts. Special priority is given to projects that fit a “connections” theme—that is, linking the humanities to other disciplines, nontraditional partners, or underserved audiences.
