The New Foundation for Art History (NFAH) aims to innovate in service to the art history field, addressing areas overlooked or underserved by traditional institutions. With the flexibility of having no long-term commitments or entrenched culture, NFAH seeks to adopt an entrepreneurial approach in its grant-making. It focuses on leading towards a more equitable and excellently diverse future in art history research and discourse.
The NFAH offers five publication subvention grants, with awards ranging between $1,000 and $5,000, to support the publication of books in the art history field. This grant program is guided by the principle of fostering the best current research while promoting equity and excellence within the discipline. Applications are evaluated by the foundation's leadership and relevant committees, reflecting the foundation's commitment to involving a broad spectrum of expertise in its decision-making processes.
