The New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation aims to improve the health and wellness of the children within the state through supporting various initiatives. They focus on areas such as healthy eating, active living, oral health, and access to health and dental insurance for children and families, especially those at risk for food insecurity.
The New Hampshire Children's Health Foundation is adjusting its approach by shifting from project-related awards to general operating support, starting with the spring 2024 application cycle. This change allows applicants to use funding in ways that best support their organization. Awards will be given to organizations that show a strong commitment and capability to support or enhance one of the NHCHF's funding priorities. These priorities include promoting healthy eating or active living, specifically by improving participation in federal nutrition assistance programs, increasing access to affordable, culturally appropriate foods, enhancing access to physical activity for young children and families, promoting oral health for children through age five and pregnant women, and increasing access to children's health and dental insurance coverage. The grant aims to support a variety of strategies, such as training for public health dental hygienists, implementing oral health prevention education by primary care providers, and increasing access to dental insurance coverage, especially focusing on data collection, analysis, and advocacy efforts to improve access to preventive oral health care.
