The New York Health Foundation aims to improve the health of all New Yorkers, with a special focus on people of color and individuals who have been historically marginalized. Their grantmaking primarily targets three strategic areas: Primary Care, Healthy Food, Healthy Lives, and Veterans’ Health.
NYHealth's "Healthy Food, Healthy Lives: Supporting a More Equitable Food System" RFP is focused on advancing racial health equity by supporting organizations that are led by and cater to communities of color. This initiative aims to implement community-informed and responsive projects within two strategic approaches: (1) Promoting Food Is Medicine Interventions, including the development and enhancement of medically tailored meals, groceries, and produce prescription programs, and (2) Supporting healthier, culturally responsive food purchasing by leveraging the purchasing power of public institutions. Projects may involve co-designing programs with community-based organizations and healthcare providers, creating partnerships to expand Food Is Medicine interventions, mobilizing community advocacy for access to these programs, and increasing the availability of nutritious and culturally appropriate food through institutional purchases. Grant funds up to $50,000 are available for projects not exceeding 24 months.
