Northern California Botanists is oriented towards encouraging and supporting academic endeavors in botany and plant ecology among undergraduate and graduate students. Their mission encompasses promoting research and education in botany, aiding students in pursuing careers in this field, and implementing objectives that support botanical study and conservation within Northern California.
The Botany Research Scholarship Program by Northern California Botanists aims to inspire undergraduate students towards careers in botany, enhance botany and plant ecology research at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and fulfill the NCB's mission focused objectives. The program is competitive, offering $1,000 research scholarships to students at accredited colleges or universities who undertake research within a defined geographical range in Northern California. These awards support basic research projects for undergraduates and graduate students, with eligibility for repeat funding for up to two years for undergraduates and Master’s degree students, and up to four years for doctoral students. Additionally, the Sacramento Valley and Shasta chapters of the California Native Plant Society collaborate with NCB to fund further plant-related research scholarships, extending support to specific regional studies and students from particular areas within Northern California.
