Ohio EPA establishes and enforces standards for air, water, waste management and cleanup of sites contaminated with hazardous substances. We also provide financial assistance to businesses and communities; environmental education programs for businesses and the public; and pollution prevention assistance to help businesses minimize their waste at the source.
The Academic Institution Grant program supports public and private K-12 schools, colleges, and universities in enhancing their recycling efforts. It funds outreach and education, the acquisition of recycling equipment, and sponsorships for conferences. Additionally, it backs beneficial use projects employing ground tire rubber, notably in scrap tire for civil engineering/construction projects. Financial requirements include a 100% match for scrap tire projects and a 25% match for most other initiatives. Scrap tire projects must be completed within 24 months, while other projects have a 12-month completion timeline. The grant covers various categories, including civil engineering/construction projects using scrap tires, recycling and drop-off equipment purchase, special venue recycling setup, outreach and education, litter clean-up events, and conference sponsorships. Each category has its own funding cap and examples of eligible projects, highlighting the program's comprehensive support for environmental sustainability and recycling across academic institutions.
